Upcoming DDA Housing Scheme In 2016-17 To Launch 11,000 Flats

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is all set to launch a number of new homes under a housing scheme. Arun Goel who is currently the vice chairman of DDA has given out some interesting details about the projects which will be developed by the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC). The DDA has witnessed many positive changes within its functioning ever since Arun Goel took over as Vice Chairman 10 months ago. Arun has also taken several initiatives along with the DDA to develop over 17 model parks across the capital. There are various other development plans, with the project in collaboration with the NBCC taking top priority.

According to the VC of the DDA, requests have been sent to the government of Delhi to proceed further under the land pooling. There is a request to declare villages as development areas under the Delhi Urban Act and another request to urbanize villages under the MCD Act. These requests are pending with the Delhi government. Once the villages are noted as development areas as well as urbanized villages the plan will move to the next stage.

About The DDA Scheme

The DDA scheme is going to launch soon. While there will be a number of new flats that will be constructed, it will also include some of the ready flats which are currently lying vacant with DDA. According to Arun, they are currently conducting spot verification process and site verification for flats that are ready and vacant. It is essential to check all the documents for these homes before they are taken into consideration. The plan is to launch about 60,000 flats in two years. These flats are currently under construction and will soon be ready. While the new constructions allotment will begin only next year, this year the draw will include flats that are ready and vacant.

According to the scheme, they will launch around 11,000 flats this year which include about 2,000 flats from the 2014 scheme and around 8500 flats which have been surrendered. These properties are all spread across Delhi. The scheme will include flats that were won in the previous year’s draw and flats which have been vacant for several years. All these houses are in prime locations. The 60,000 new constructions too will be launched at a subsequent scheme.

The National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) was given clear lands that were to be developed as the next smart cities. Two major projects – Karkardooma Project (75 acres) & Sanjay Jheel Project (25 acres) – were part of this plan. This was the first time that no DDA officer was appointed. The DDA have done their bit and submitted a list of international specialist’s panel to the NBCC. Such a major project had not been undertaken in the past in India. The international experts that were suggested by DDA were shortlisted after receiving a sample of their presentation. The NBCC is developing all the projects on behalf of the DDA. Once approvals are procured, construction on the projects will begin.
