Sushil Kumar is a name of freestyle Indian wrestler. He was born in Baprola village, the outskirts of New Delhi. His father was a bus- driver and played wrestling as his hobby.
He started his career in 2003 and tookparticipation in many wrestling championships. He had taken participation in Common Wealth Wrestling Championship in London. Then he tried his luck in Beijing Olympics and came back with flying colours
He has done his studies in Delhi.
Starting his career in 2003, Sushil had taken participation in the Asian Wrestling Championship in New Delhi, and won bronze medal in the category of free style. Also In 2003, he won gold medal at the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship in London.
In 2005, he got Arjuna award. Not only in 2008, he was awarded by Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna but during 2010, he also won CNN-IBN Indian of the year.
The most renowned award Padma Shri in 2011, In Beijing Olympics for the Bronze Medal he got lists of privileges like:
Rs5.5 million cash award as well as promotion to Assistant Commercial Manager from Chief Ticketing inspector.
Delhi Government gave him Rs.5 million and 2.5 million from Haryana Government. The Steel Ministry of India has awarded Rs 2.5 million and Rs.500, 000 by R.K. Global.
Maharashtra State government offered him RS.1 million and Rs.1 million from MTNL.
He bestowed with the gold medal for the World Wrestling Championships in 2010 and then 1 million cash award from Indian Railways for his gold medal as well as promoted to the post of Asst. Commercial Manager.
He won Rs.1 Million cash from Sports Authority of India and Rs.1 million cash from Delhi Government,
He had achieved silver medal at 2012in London Olympics and for this felicitous award Delhi Gov. honoured him with Rs.20 million. Haryana government gave him Rs.15 million and Rs.07.5 million cash reward from the Indian Railway.
Haryana government supported his dreams by giving him land area in Sonipat.
ONGC offered Rs.1 million cash to Sushil Kumar.
In 2012, he won silver medal in 66kg free style wrestling and in 2014, for 74kg freestyle wrestling, gold medal at the Common Wealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
