Kabali is the most anticipated South Indian movie this year. The teaser for Kabali received over a million views within an hour. This goes to show the popularity and hype surrounding the great Rajnikanth. The king of cinema, Rajnikanth, created manic rave across South India when it was announced that he would be part of ‘Kabali’. The teaser of the movie lasts over a minute and shows shots of Rajnikanth oozing charisma and class.
His salt and pepper hair style and beard along with a stunning grey suit is sure to create new style statements among the millions of Rajnikanth fans in India and abroad. This teaser gives an indication that Rajnikanth plays an underworld don who is generous and cares for the marginalized mass and the welfare of the poor. He does so by creating a system to counter capitalist forces. Kabali, meaning Lord Shiva, seems more like a reincarnation of the legendary Godfather. The story in Rajnikanth movies is irrelevant as the class of the man alone is enough to drive crowds to the theaters.
The background music of Kabali is intense with dropping beats and electric guitar playing. The teaser also shows Rajnikanth proclaiming to be ‘Kabali Da’ with an arrogance that only befits him. The movie also shows Rajnikanth in another avatar sporting long hair and a thick moustache. Radhika Apte plays the female lead and looks graceful in South Indian attire. Although there is no imposing villain shown in the teasers, there is a scene where actor Kishore is heard shouting ‘Yaarda intha Kabali. Vara sollra avane’ meaning ‘Who is Kabali? Ask him to show his face’. Rajnikanth’s last movie ‘Madras’ was a political story and ‘Kabali’ is expected to be no different, taking up serious social and political issues across the country. The teaser of Kabali has certainly set the tone for one of the blockbusters of the year.
Rajinikanth is one of the most popular actors in Indian cinema and he is also one of the highest paid actors in Asia. Rajinikanth comes in 32nd on the list of highest paid actors according to the Forbes Magazine. Rajinikanth has been in the industry for a long time and he is still ruling the silver screen with some amazing performances. One such is considered to be his current project Kabali where the actor is believed to have charged a fee of Rs. 50 crores just to act in the movie. While the production cost of the movie was less than half the fee that Rajinikanth charged at Rs. 20 crores. The total budget of the movie is around 100 crores.
