Honda Dream Yuga is the new entry-level commuter bike making waves.
With an upgraded engine of its 2013 model and the revolutionary HET (Honda Eco technology), the new Honda Dream Yuga is poised to set new records of success in a highly competitive motorcycle market.
Although identical to its elder sibling, Honda Shine, Dream Yuga is a simple and sober commuter bike with basic styling and more emphasis on comfort and convenience. However, a few changes and new graphics distinguish this bike from its siblings. This bike-in-black uses all black themes to make a style statement. It has black silencer, black engine and black alloy wheels. The headlight, visor, rear view mirrors and clear lens indicators are very basic with a big, angular tail light.
Similar to that of Honda Shine, the Dream Yuga’s instrument console is basic with twin round shaped pods consisting of analogue speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge along with other indicators.
A mono cylinder, 4-stroke,109cc engine with CB Twister produces a peak power of8.5 BHP at 7500rpm with a maximum torque output of 8.91 Nm available at 5500rpm. This engine is mated with a four speed manual gearbox with all gears in up-shift pattern. The engine feels stable and silent at moderate speeds, but turns a bit noisy when engine is revved up. Since the gear ratios are perfectly mated with this engine and have enough torque, you don’t need frequent shifting. The bike is ideally suited for city traffic. It takes around 8 seconds for this bike to reach a speed of 60 kmph from 0. Its top speed is 95 kmph.
The bike gives a satisfactory ride and is most manoeuvrable in city traffic. Its high ground clearance of 161mm makes it convenient to drive even on rough terrain.
This fuel-efficient engine of Dream Yuga gives a mileage of around 84kmpl.
The Comfort and Safety:
Its comparatively higher seating position and foot pegs give a comfortable sitting posture that provides stress-free long rides. Adding to the stability and comfort of riding is its good front and rear suspensions and a long wheelbase of 1285mm. The thighs conveniently grip the big fuel tank and the knees roll back perfectly, making the ride a pleasure. A big leg guard with a pass-light button is another safety feature.
The bike comes in five attractive colours: Black, Black with Radiant Red Metallic, Black with Heavy Grey Metallic, Sports Red and Pearl Amazing White.
Bike with electric start and drum brakes is priced at Rs.55,090
For Honda Yuga, price is the winner. Since it is very similar to Honda Shine, a more expensive bike, it gives a choice to its customers to go in for this cheaper bike. Performance-wise, this bike is totally adapted to city driving. Despite lacking a few qualities like styling, exclusivity and disk brake, the bike is certain to give a run for money to its rivals. Honda is known for producing powerful bikes and also lays stress on keeping the bike in top performance. They have power, life and durability. A good bike is one which can withstand the pressure and should be able to give smooth ride on nasty Indian roads. Honda’s this bike is one which can be trusted blindly. It has everything which a common Indian biker wants. A pinch of everything. Be it mileage, suspension and last but not least looks.
That is the beauty of Honda. Simplicity at a small cost. Wear all the safety gears before riding bikes on road.
